[ He stares at the text for a bit before tilting his head, and then laughing quietly as he replies. In Russian, because he's not actually correcting Anya's English here. ]
K-pop is a music genre. And yes, I did work in the k-pop industry for a while, both as a dancer and as choreographer.
[RUSSIAN. you might be able to feel her excitement from her texts]
ah!! i forgot that viktor could understand me too! thank goodness! yuratchka is strict about english so i forgot... thank you.
mr. katsuki mentioned it before and that is why. but ah... k-pop looked similar to idols, which is what yuuko told me that i might want to be. i know it is not the same in america... but i would like to try things like that. taking things more seriously.... since i know what i want now!
and viktor teaches the more difficult classes, yes? is it ok if anya wants to try? i will work hard!
[ Yura being strict, gasp, shock! All the more reason to text Anya in Russian, Yura pls. Still, it's obviously that he's missed something. Being busy has its consequences, Viktor! The world doesn't wait for you! ]
Yuuri mentioned that? And what's that about idols? The Japanese kind, as in Honoka's agency?
[ He'd address the rest, but all of that is hard to follow, please walk him through this.]
[oh no here we are, anya being bad at explaining. don't worry viktor she can start from the beginning along with ALL OF THE DETAILS BECAUSE SHE GETS TO SPEAK IN RUSSIAN
she never gets to speak in russian. she even ends up improving her grammar and punctuation she's so excited to be able to confidently write....]
Oops I said a lot without a lot of explanation didn't I....
Mr. Katsuki did mention it! He sent me a video of K-POP once and said he would teach me - but that Viktor knows even more than he did. I said that I wanted to learn from you both!
Idols is... more difficult. A hallucinomemory? A very real dream that Anya had! They are looking more and more like real memories... so I think I am remembering that I used to be an idol? I did not think it was possible before, but it would make sense... and also why I know Japanese now!
No, it's not bad. Whatever inspires you to work hard is a good thing no matter what. But are you interested in k-pop just because it seems similar to idol culture? You might want to research it some more. It's not really that similar.
By the way, I don't mind accepting you into one of my regular classes. But I won't go easy on you.
Hmmm, I think I want to try everything. Idol culture is what I remember... but already I think I am different from the Anya that was there. There is no way that we could be the exact same? After all, I did not know Russian until now. So even if I was an idol then... I want to take every opportunity now.
You say you want to try everything, but you have to start somewhere.
Have you decided what you want to focus on in the beginning? Overextending yourself won't get you anywhere, so it's better to focus on few things at first. I'm not saying you only have to choose one thing, but give it some thought before deciding.
Hmm... I tried Romeo and Juliet, but I'm not comfortable acting yet. I have another friend who is helping me with modeling... but that is also something a little bit more on the side. It has been fun to try but I prefer performing with singing and dancing, like during the pageant!
Should I be even more specific?
[she's like a sponge she will take literally any piece of advice at this point]
I would like to be on a stage again. There are some people that I want to take care of - so if there would be a way to get some money, I would like that too.
It's funny that now I have all the words but I'm still not sure how to say what I want but.... if there was a way that I could do this, to achieve the potential that people tell me I have, without wasting anyone's time... That's what I want the most.
OK. You might want to look into talent agencies to see if that's helpful for you, or if you'd rather do things on your own and find your own work and music independently. We actually work with a couple of those at the Studio, but not everyone likes following a set path.
What kind of music do you want to sing and dance to?
[ ...He should probably ask if her parents are aware of all this, but when did he even think of taking his parents into consideration? Never. The answer is never. ]
Even now... I am still learning what the different kinds of paths are. I think I will start looking into talent agencies too. I will ask Honoka too. I am lucky - there are people with a lot of experience before me to learn from.
As much as I love classical and jazz... I think pop is the style where I'll be able to reach people best.
A vocal coach might be helpful too, if you want to look into that.
[ I think it's important to note that when Anya mentions the K-pop thing, he chuckles silently before replying. ]
I was going to recommend jazz and hip-hop, so I'm glad you're already working on that. Anyway, many k-pop choreographies need that basis, and Yuuri's great at both.
Isn't he? Mr. Katsuki is so good at what he does, I wish we could see him dance for himself more instead of just teaching. Even though we are also lucky to have him as a teacher?
Oh, me too, me too! I told him that I hope that he can achieve his dreams of being a k-pop one day too... or whatever it is that he wants to do? If it's Mr. Katsuki, I think he can do whatever he puts his mind to.
[ But yes, Anya might be a good influence for Yuuri. ]
When are you starting? After a few weeks with Yuuri, you might be able to join another one of my classes if you have the time. That will depend on the kind of things you work on and your progress, though.
